That time of the year whereby we celebrate the birth of Jesus is here. But is it the same as the previous years?

Only you alone have the answer to that. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Christmas 2020 will be different for me.

This year, I’m going to miss the family reunion. Those stories and life experiences we talk about as we ignore diet recommendations will be foregone. The laughs as we tease each other when playing cards are already a distant memory.

The same is happening to you; you are caught in the same web of thoughts.

You are not alone, we can explore 4 simple ways you can spend your Christmas holiday as a freelancer.

Spend time with family

As a part-time freelancer, I sometimes find myself with little time to share with family members.

When was the last time you sat down and talked about nothing with your family? I know that some of you can’t remember.

The pandemic has presented an opportunity to sit down and talk about ‘nothing’ with your wife and children. It is time to bond in nonprofessional’s language. Share stories with your child will make you trustworthy. Spending time with family does not have to be in the house. You can still spend time sightseeing. Spending time with your family will help your brain massively.

All this helps you stop thinking of both work and clients hence helping declutter your brain. With this, you can easily see tasks and work with a rejuvenated mind.

Spend time reading books

They say investing in you is very important. As a freelance writer, reading is one way of investing in yourself. I know everyone has that one book that they have been longing to start or finish reading.

However, due to limited time, they have not been able to. The Christmas period presents you with a perfect opportunity to start or finish writing your book.

If you do not have any, you can head over to Amazon and buy one or find a store where you can lease your favorite book.

Visit friends

Probably, you have already decided that spending time with your family not possible. Reading is not appealing too. So are you going to lazy around the house all day?

Pick that phone and call those friends who live close. You can meet and catch up. You can also share ideas, stories, and jokes as you share information and increase your network. Meeting friends can also create new opportunities for you as a freelancer.

Freelance

Perhaps you are wondering, what do I do if I have unfinished projects with tight deadlines?

Do not fret yourself, reputation is equally important. A satisfied client is good for your freelance career. Missing deadlines can destroy your freelance career. Besides, it is even worse if you are a full-time freelancer.

So take your time and finish that project. Work through without fail because the future depends on the present.

Bottom of it

Christmas is the perfect time to relax and enjoy the fine things in life. The four ways shared above are among the many ways of spending your holiday.

As a freelancer, what will your holiday look like?

What are you planning to do?

Feel free to share how you will spend your holiday in the comments. You can also share your thoughts.
